Compression Sclerotherapy
Another solution for problem veins is compression sclerotherapy.
A very fine needle is inserted into the blood vessel being treated. A solution of hypertonic saline which is similar to your natural body fluids is then injected. With such a fine needle, there is very little discomfort. Some patients describe a localized burning sensation for about 15-30 seconds, but most feel the sensation is not uncomfortable. After the injection, the treated area will be wrapped in compression bandages for a specific length of time. Generally, the larger the vein, the longer the bandage must stay in place.
You are free to continue your normal routine immediately following the procedure. In fact, you are encouraged to walk a few miles per day following treatment.
